Abby Gibson, President

Abby Gibson is a Christian Conservative and long-time member within Hays County Republican Women. She is deeply engaged in organizing grassroots, policy advocacy, and legislative involvement, including work supporting legislation during the 89th Texas Legislative Session. A mother of two young patriots, Abby is driven by a commitment to liberty, constitutional principles, and the future of Hays County. She believes Republican women are essential to advancing conservative values and building effective political action through service, discipline, and active participation. In her leisure time, Abby enjoys the outdoors, reading, and teaching art.

Vicki Alvord, First Vice President

Vicki Alvord has been an active member of National Federation of Republican Women for four decades in Texas, California, New Hampshire, and Virginia.  She has served as a club officer in each state and at the state level in Virginia as Treasurer and Second Vice President of VFRW.  She was an initial member of the NFRW Women in Business committee.

Vicki has worked on Republican campaigns across the country.  A highlight was working on the George W. Bush campaign in 1999-2000 in both New Hampshire and Virginia.  She organized seventeen events with the Bushes (George, Laura, and Barbara) in New Hampshire.  After President Bush was elected, Vicki volunteered at the White House working on presidential correspondence for over a year.

Vicki has served her city of Woodcreek as a City Council member and as a member of the Texas Film Advisory Council.  She currently serves as Chairman of Scheib Mental Health and Chairman of the Endowment Committee at her church.

Vicki enjoys movies, following ten years in the film industry, reading, and spending time with her husband Chris and her ever-growing family.

Morgan Hammer, PAC Treasurer

Morgan Hammer has been a resident of Hays County for many years and is an alumna of Texas State University. She lives here with her husband, Derrik, and their daughter, Blair. Morgan has always had a passion for helping others, demonstrated through her involvement in non-profit organizations and her efforts to uplift businesses. Morgan Hammer is currently the county commissioner for precinct 3 in Hays County and a Financial Advisor. She is honored to serve on the board for Hays County Republican Women and to continue the conservative movement in Hays County alongside the many patriotic women of HCRW.

Peggy Robinson, Vice President - Political Activities

Peggy Robinson is a native Texan, born in Port Arthur, Texas, but has lived in the Austin area for more than 25 years. She moved to Woodcreek, Texas in 2021. She has been a member of HCRW since 2022 and serving as  the Vice President of Political Activities on the 2026-2027 board. As a Christian conservative, she abides by these principles in all aspects of her business and personal life.

Peggy is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and is an experienced leader with extensive experience in property management, HR, finance and banking, public school education and nonprofit leadership, complemented by a strong commitment to community service. Her career spans diverse sectors, where she has demonstrated expertise in operational oversight, financial strategy, and organizational development.

Currently, she is employed as the Director Operations and Special Programs for a local nonprofit, contributing to multiple strategic planning initiatives. In this role, she has a proven track record in HR management and strategy, operational oversight, volunteer coordination, fundraising campaigns and events, and cultivating donor relationships to advance mission-driven goals.

Peggy’s leadership style is rooted in collaboration, integrity, and a passion for empowering others. Her overarching philosophy is that, “ teamwork makes the dream work.”  She continues to leverage her leadership and governance experience to create meaningful change in a variety of business environments.

In her personal life, Peggy is married to Kim, her husband of 33 years, and is the mother of three amazing sons, and two beautiful grandsons all of whom provide her with many hours of joy.  For leisure, she enjoys travel, being in the great outdoors, creating art, reading and gardening.

Susan Cooper, Secretary

Susan has been a member of HCRW since 2020. She grew up in Austin and graduated from Westlake High School, later earning her degree from Texas A&M University in College Station and an MBA in Business and Management from the University of Houston.

Susan spent 27 years working in Austin, beginning her career at the Texas Lottery Commission as Retailer Accounting and Collection Manager. She then held multiple roles in internal audit and business controls at Dell, Inc., traveling internationally to audit manufacturing facilities. Prior to retiring to Wimberley, she spent six years with the Seton Ascension Hospital System, serving in an administrative capacity for four Seton Foundations in the Austin area.

Her extensive volunteer service includes executive board roles with numerous nonprofit organizations, including the Victoria Community Theatre, the Junior League of Austin, the Austin Kappa Kappa Gamma Alumnae Association, and the Wimberley Community Civic Club. She also served as both a Province Director and Regional Director for Kappa Kappa Gamma Fraternity.

Susan and her husband, Jim, are loyal conservatives who regularly attend Republican events in the Wimberley area. They enjoy traveling in their RV, walking at Blue Hole, staying engaged in the Wimberley community, and spending time with their two cats, Catherine and Caroline.

Cris Peterson, Vice President - Membership

Cris Peterson has been a member of HCRW since 2017 and currently serves as Vice President of Membership. After a long career in advertising and marketing, she and her husband Tom made the move east to Texas and settled in Wimberley. 

After more than 30 years as an Art Director and Graphic Designer, Cris published her first children’s book entitled, “What If You Fly?” which was inspired by her unstoppable grandson. Cris and Tom also continue their work here with Pepper Project, the charity they founded in 2010 to benefit the people of Cambodia.

Cris looks forward to her role in helping to create a strong and active club.

Lucy Trainor serves as the State Republican Executive Committeewoman (SREC) for Senate District 25—the largest Senate district in Texas. Elected in 2024, she is a proven leader on election integrity and brings decades of hands-on experience and an unmatched understanding of Texas politics. A native Texan, Lucy has been actively engaged in Republican and conservative political efforts statewide since the late 1990s.

Prior to her election to the SREC, Lucy worked closely with the Republican Party of Texas, where she recruited, trained, and deployed poll watchers and election workers across the state. She has been a leading advocate for election reform, working with legislators during the 88th Texas Legislature and assisting grassroots activists in addressing election integrity concerns in counties throughout Texas.

Lucy also brings deep legislative experience, having served as Chief of Staff to former State Representative Phil King—now a Texas Senator—through three regular legislative sessions and four special sessions. During that time, she played a key role in advancing conservative policy priorities and navigating complex legislative battles. She has witnessed firsthand historic moments in Texas politics, including the election of the first Republican Speaker of the Texas House since Reconstruction under Speaker Tom Craddick.

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Lucy founded her own consulting company and spent several years homeschooling her six children, reflecting her commitment to faith, family, and conservative values.

Lucy is married to Trey Trainor, a former Trump appointee to the Federal Election Commission. She is a graduate of Texas A&M University and the University of Texas School of Law and currently resides in Driftwood, Texas.

Alva Housewright, Vice President - Events

Alva Housewright is a native Texan born in Weslaco, Texas, and moved to San Marcos from the Houston metroplex, where she worked and raised her family. After her daughter graduated from A&M, it was time to retire and move to the Texas Hill Country.

After graduating from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley with a BS in Biology, she began her career working for the Texas Department of Public Safety, Austin, as a Supervising Forensic Scientist, Breath Alcohol Testing Program. In this role, she oversaw operations at a regional laboratory, served as an instructor at the DPS Training Academy, provided expert forensic testimony, and conducted numerous research studies on the effects of alcohol and drugs in humans. Alva retired from the Department of Public Safety after 33 years of service and has continued consulting on various criminal cases.

Before retiring, Alva utilized her management and training skills as President of the Junior ROTC program at her daughter’s high school. As President of the Parent Association, she served as the Fundraising coordinator, planned the Military Balls, and implemented a Scholarship Program for any JROTC student needing assistance with college costs. It was an honor to witness the culmination of four years of hard work by the Parent Association, which granted 3 JROTC students the opportunity to begin their college journey.

 Since retiring, Alva enjoys spending time outdoors participating in various activities. She returned to her love of running marathons, hiking, paddleboarding, and cycling with an emphasis on mountain biking. Relocating to the Hill Country has afforded her numerous opportunities to continue all these activities as well as finally having the time to volunteer with the Texas Republican Women’s group.

Mary Clarkson, Caring for America

Mary Clarkson serves as Caring for America chair.  Mary has been a resident of Hays County for over 25 years.  She's been very active in the Republican party throughout the years serving as precinct chair and election judge for 20 years.  She has been a delegate at 4 state conventions.  She spearheads our Border Patrol initiative for Hays County collecting countless supplies for our Border Patrol Agents.  For her tireless work for the Republican party, Mary was awarded the Mary Joe Roddie award in 2020, and awarded the Ron Hood Community Service award in 2025.

Sandi M. Ellen, Immediate Past President

Sandi Ellen has been a member of HCRW since 2015 and has just completed her second term as President of the Hays County Republican Women. She is a lifelong conservative Republican, casting her first presidential vote for George H. W. Bush, and is a strong pro-life, conservative Christian voice in Hays County.

Sandi has worked directly on three county campaigns for her husband, Hays County Constable John Ellen, and has been a steadfast supporter of numerous state and county-level campaigns. She has proudly served as a delegate to three State Conventions and looks forward to attending her fourth. She remains committed to continuing her volunteer service and, in 2026, will serve as Recording Secretary for the Greater San Antonio Area Council (GSAC).

A small business owner, Sandi has built a 30-year career in design, sales, and marketing. Grounded in strong family values, she enjoys traveling with her husband and spending time with their three children and seven grandchildren.
